A Safe Space

A Safe Space

CREATE A SAFE SPACE FOR LGBTQ+ STUDENTS

Focus: LGBTQ+ RIGHTS

Create flyers, posters, or art and post them around school, such as classrooms or hallways (with the school's permission) to demand a safe space for LGBTQ+ students.

This Campaign:

By creating these flyers and pieces of art, you can help bring awareness to LGBTQ+ rights and demand a safe space for LGBTQ+ students in your school.

PROBLEM:

Bullying is a serious problem in many schools, ranging from cyberbullying to physical violence, but bullying LGBTQ+ students, in particular, is more likely to be ignored or mishandled by staff. Many schools struggle to support and create a safe environment for LGBTQ+ students.

SOLUTION:

By using flyers and posters to spread awareness of the struggles many LGBTQ+ students face, we can demand school administrations to try harder to create a safe environment for LGBTQ+ students.

STEPS

  1. Discuss your solution to the problem with your school administration and teachers. a) Ask for their permission to post the flyers/art/posters. b) If they happen to refuse, you can create digital flyers and upload them on social media platforms such as Instagram.

  2. Create the flyers/art/posters. a) Feel free to invite your friends and other students to help you! b) Also feel free to twist these campaigns yourselves by talking to an officer from DoE on discord!

  3. Publicize! Post your creations across your school. a) You can place them in hallways, in front of building entrances, cafeterias, and classrooms.

  4. Fill out the Volunteer Form! Get volunteer hours based on the pictures submitted.
