Education Worker Appreciation

SPREAD LOVE TO THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST

COVID-19 has brought many struggles to a variety of different workers in our communities, the most highlighted essential workers being those within Healthcare. It’s no doubt these amazing workers have helped restore health to thousands across America, however, it’s important to recognize others in our community that are supporting our wellbeing daily. In our school systems, janitors, lunch ladies, librarians, etc. are working overtime to keep conditions in the schools safe for its students and are paid very low wages. It’s time to show our appreciation to these amazing people! Use this campaign as an opportunity to brighten someone's day and show them appreciation for all they do with goodie bags, letters, and some love!

STEPS

1. Email the Principal or Assistant Principal of your school to make sure this drive/service opportunity is allowed. Also, if you have a club sponsor, be sure to confirm with them as well! Certain schools may have more custodian/lunch lady staff members than others, so feel free to collaborate with other clubs within your school in order to obtain the right number of supplies. ​ 2. Plan a date for the distribution and determine which goods you will be placing within goodie bags. Some ideas are five dollar gift cards to fast food restaurants/common stores, drinks, candies/chocolates, hand sanitizer, handwritten notes, etc. Don’t forget to have members donate goodie bags, these can get expensive if bought in large quantities! 3. Create a SignUp Genius in order to keep track of what members sign up for each good and to differentiate which club they are donating to if collaborating. This will also allow you to limit how many of each supply is donated and determine volunteer hours. 4. Bag supplies and write positive messages on the front of the goodie bags. They will receive more hours for participating in this aspect of the campaign, so be sure to make it clear they helped in this process when filling out the google form for volunteer hours! 5. Distribute! Hand out the goodie bags with members to your school’s essential workers, whether it be after school or before. Sometimes these workers are on different schedules, so you may need to have two distribution times. You and your members will be able to see the huge impact you made on these wonderful people, they truly deserve this appreciation! 6. Fill out the Volunteer Form! Get volunteer hours based on the pictures submitted.
