Focus: LGBTQ+ Community

Publicize the voices of the LGBTQ+ community and disprove the misconceptions.

This Campaign:

Allows your club to gain knowledge and speak first hand on the topic of the rights and feelings within the LGBTQ+ community

PROBLEM:

There are many issues the LGBTQ+ community faces that need to be resolved in the future for their safety and security. We need to PROMOTE the economic security and financial stability of LGBTQ people by fostering inclusive labor practices and workplace policies,

PROTEct and strengthen the civil rights of LGBTQ people engaged with the criminal legal system and law enforcement, FOSTER inclusive, safe, welcoming, and affirming schools and educational environments for LGBTQ students, and SUPPORT fair and humane treatment of LGBTQ immigrants, including by promoting the rights of LGBTQ people abroad among much more. This has not quite been achieved yet, as many have varying opinions. This is most likely due to the fact that many people are not informed enough or have not witnessed or heard of first-hand communication with people of the LGBTQ+ community, and this campaign takes a step towards this.

SOLUTION:

People within the LGBTQ+ community should be treated as equals, and to do so we need to let them voice out their opinions, thoughts and feelings. As we interview and talk with them, we can gain insightful knowledge and spread it throughout social media.

STEPS

Step 1: Prepare questions you have regarding the LGBTQ+ community. Make sure to stay respectful! (ex- what is the first step you think that needs to be taken for the growth and support of the community? It could be broad in terms of government or smaller in terms of community influences and changes)
Step 2: Talk to someone from the LGBTQ+ community (could be a friend, family member, etc) and gain insight. Take notes on each question you ask, highlighting key points
Step 3: Create an engaging post for your instagram/snapchat story using these key points. Before mentioning who you interviewed, make sure you have their permission.

Remember that you can always ask for help, suggestions, or twist these campaigns themselves by talking to an officer from DoE on discord!
