Become an "older" sibling to elementary students!
Do you want to be a big “sister” or “brother” to elementary school students? Then this campaign is for you! In this campaign, members will form "Big Pal" and "Little Pal" friendships in an effort to help the youth in our community grow to be the best self they can be. By being their “big pal” you are able to act as their role model by helping these young children learn about the world. Through role modeling, you have the ability to influence their development in positive ways and make it more likely that they become people you will admire when they mature. What kids see and believe, they become. As their “Big Pal” your goal is to help elementary school kids realize their potential and develop good citizenship skills.
STEPS
1. Plan! What activities are you planning to do with the kids?
Fun games, social interactions, etc.
Are you planning on making this a one time thing or a recurring event? (either is fine)
What topics do you want to teach the kids? (mental health, confidence, etc.)
2. Reach out! Email a local elementary school(s) and let them know your initiative. Be sure to let them know why you desire to begin this campaign. If they agree to the campaign, ask them for a list of the names of the kids/ class who want to participate.
Remember that due to Covid, you can only meet with through virtual platforms such as Zoom
Discuss the meeting times with them.
3. Organize! Make a list of things you need to do.
Create a zoom link
Have the list of activities you plan to do with the kids ready.
Pair each member to an elementary kid.
4. Act! Now that you have everything planned out you are ready to start the zoom session!
5. Fill out the Volunteer Form! Get volunteer hours based on the pictures submitted.
