Stance Against Racism

SHOW THAT PEOPLE BELONG, NOT RACISM

On the daily, news channels are flooded with disapproving news on the basis of racism. Do you wish to make a change and bring forth equality? It is important to consider the process of taking a stand since words will be closely scrutinized and serve as foundational guidance for all the actions that follow. Systemic racism includes the complex array of anti-Black practices, the continuing economic and other resource inequalities along racial lines, and the white racist ideologies and attitudes created to maintain and rationalize white privilege and power. We need to acquire shared values, including justice, opportunity, community, and equity, all of which are aspirations that should be universally acknowledged regardless of race. The purpose of this approach is not to avoid difficult discussions regarding race, but rather to focus on potential solutions. Together, we can make a stance. Show your support through social media! Recently, a majority of people have turned to social media platforms to express their thoughts and the same goes for campaigns. Use this campaign to represent brace for those who suffer but to also show that change is to be done soon.

STEPS

1. Brainstorm by picking a recent popularized racist act/event that you want to make a change in and explain it briefly in your post (What do you think about it? How should it have been handled? What change would you like to see in the future?).

2. Create a Google Form for your group members in which you state what your post will be about so there aren’t too many repeats. If you are doing it as a group, just use the form to see who is willing to help and to post it on their account.

3. Organize the post however you want. Try to make your club’s posts have a similar aesthetic!

4. Communicate! Whether that be your school, or just your club members for suggestions/help, don’t hold back! 5. Post. The best way to initiate change is to speak up, so publicize your thoughts on the issue. Give your club a time span of about 2 weeks to come up with an idea and post. Don't forget to use #LetsDreamForRacialEquality, and tag @lets_dream_the_future

5. Take pictures! Tag @Lets_Dream_The_Future to be featured on our instagram!

6. Fill out the Volunteer Form! Get volunteer hours based on the pictures submitted.
